Meet Azaria Podplesky
What is your favorite part about what you do? My favorite part about what I do is definitely being able to talk with incredible people everyday. Every time I interview someone, whether it be a musician or someone from my town who has done something noteworthy, I learn a little more about just how wonderful this world is. There are so many people doing amazing things with their time, and I'm honored to be able to talk with them and to share their stories.
How do you define passion? I define passion as the thing that makes you feel most alive. Going to a concert, taking photos, playing a sport, writing, building model airplanes, whatever. The thing that makes you excited to wake up in the morning and get started with your day- that's passion.
Why does what you do matter? What I do matters because, without journalism, so many incredible stories would go untold. I've interviewed so many people who made me think, "The world needs to know about this person; they're doing something truly amazing!" I love that my job gives me the opportunity to share those stories with people who may not have heard them otherwise. What I do also matters because it gives people who may not have ever felt like they had a voice a chance to share their opinion and their experiences with others. At times, that can be an overwhelming responsibility but it's a great feeling knowing that, in a way, I, as a journalist, helped someone find their voice.
