Like many of you, I was extremely saddened to hear the news of Cory Monteith’s recent passing. My immediate thoughts, after hearing the news, were about Monteith’s bride-to-be, Lea Michele. I couldn’t help but think back to all of the interviews that I’ve seen of the two of them discussing how much they loved one another and how happy they were to be able to be together and hopefully spend the rest of their lives together, they were so happy and so in love. Like Lea and Cory, I am fortunate enough to know the feeling of true love. Like Lea was, I am engaged to the man of my dreams and I could not and do not even want to imagine what she is going through and how she feels. Instead of spending this whole time discussing how awful of a tragedy this is, I figure that it’s best to celebrate Lea and Cory by celebrating love! Here are some of my favorite Hollywood couples that show us how important true love is.
Beyoncé Knowles-Carter & Jay-Z Carter:
It seems like yesterday that we saw this Hollywood couple step out side-by-side, but this power couple has been married for over 5 years already! Like any good relationship, Beyoncé and Jay-Z started off as friends. When the couple actually did start dating, they liked to keep their relationship very secretive. However, with the birth of their daughter, Blue Ivy, the two became less mysterious and starting showing off their love and affection. My favorite thing about this couple is the way they support each other. When asked about his wife, Jay-Z always lights up and discusses how proud he is of all of her accomplishments. This couple also does something that is usually a big ‘no’, they work together, and they do it splendidly! The two understand and respect the way the other works which is why they are able to work together and still be the kick-ass Hollywood couple that they are. Couples everywhere, take notes!
Khloe Kardashian-Odom & Lamar Odom:
Khloe and Lamar had their fair share of opinions thrown at them when they first announced their marriage. But, they are a perfect example of ‘love at first sight’ as the pair wed within the 3rd month of knowing each other. When Ryan Seacrest asked about their super speedy wedding Khloe responded with, “I have no idea, but every single feeling in my body was like ‘this is it’”. I have always loved how sure of herself Khloe is; I think it’s something that everybody can look up to because even when faced with the anger and disappointment of her entire family she never even thought twice about her decision to marry Lamar. She knew that he was the perfect person for her and she is continuously proving that to her family. One thing that I really love about the Odoms is their honesty with one another, they have a way of being able to be 100% honest with one another without hurting the others feelings; I think that this is something every couple should aspire to do. One of the many reasons that Khloe and Lamar are good together is because they each love and respect the others family. In one of the past seasons of Khloe and Lamar, Khloe decided to try and make the relationship between Lamar and his father stronger because she knew how much it meant to him. She invited Lamar’s father over, cooked the two dinner, and made sure they were comfortable enough to be able to open up and talk to one another. In one of the most recent episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Khloe and Kris went out on the town. Khloe took Kris back to her house where she and Lamar both tended to her and made sure she was okay. It is clear that family is important to each of them and they know how important it is to honor and respect the family of their significant other.
Cory Monteith & Lea Michele:
Last but most certainly not least, the love story of Cory Monteith and Lea Michele. These two have always been my favorite Hollywood couple, I love the way you can see and feel the love between them when they look at one another or talk about one another. Glee creator and matchmaker Ryan Murphy has said that the first time he saw Cory and Lea work together he could see that they shared an unexplainable chemistry and he just knew that he had to set the two up, one day. Lea has called Cory both her ‘celebrity crush’ and her ‘best friend’, not many people get the opportunity to call their celebrity crush their boyfriend. Like many Hollywood couples, Lea and Cory were very secretive about their relationship at the beginning. After they were spotted taking trips to visit each other along with each other’s families, it was more difficult for the two to hide their relationship. The relationship was officially confirmed when Cory went on Ellen and confirmed the rumors with a smile from ear to ear. Following the relationship confirmation, the two went completely public with their relationship. One of the things that I really love about this couple is that when the two got engaged, Cory did not give Lea a humongous ring, which is customary for most celebrities. He gave her a very classic ring with a heart shaped diamond with smaller diamonds around the band. This just shows how ‘down to earth’ the couple is, they didn’t need to flaunt their engagement with a massive diamond ring; they knew the love that they had was special and they knew that they wanted to spend eternity with one another, and that was enough. Lea and Cory are a couple that have gone through quite a bit, considering their young age. This past March, Cory admitted himself to rehab and Lea didn’t wait a week before she released a statement supporting him and saying that she is proud of him for courageously admitting himself to rehab. Throughout all of the rumors that surrounded their relationship, the couple stayed strong, supported, and loved one another.
Although Cory Monteith’s death really is a tragedy, it is always best to remember how important love is. The love that Lea and Cory shared truly was something beautiful as the couple was said to get married two weeks after Cory’s passing. This story truly does break my heart but it does show you that you really do never know what tomorrow holds and that you should definitely cherish every moment you have with those that you love. I don’t know about you, but I'm going to get up and go tell my man (shown below) how much I love him.
Until next time,
